BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD It has been a very tough decision this year as there have been so many businesses in the magazine who have given exceptional service (otherwise they would not feature!). As you know, we personally use the majority of the businesses you will find in the magazine and there has been one that we have found outstanding this year. This is of course a personal choice, but judging by the number of customers that are in the shop when we are, I feel that I speak for many of the readers too. Gerry and Annette came over from Ireland a short time ago and decided to set up a little business. From the moment they opened their doors, they have never looked back. I have written about their products several times over the year just because I am that impressed. I am of course referring to G T McKenna, Irish Butcher. Their lamb is so tender and the least fatty I have ever come across. The salt beef is the same. The mince again I have found to be devoid of all those nasty fatty bits and pieces which makes the finished dish taste so much better. The sausages are 'clean' tasting and such a lovely variety but my personal favourite is the rib eye steak. I am absolutely hooked on this! The shop is spotless and service is always unhurried, friendly and with a smile. Don't forget that if you are in an absolute hurry and don't have the time for a bit of banter (which we love), then just fax your order through and G T McKenna will make life easier for you by having your meat ready for collection.
